NY Renews "Flouting the Law" Report on Capital Tonight with Susan Arbetter

There is plenty of climate and energy news swirling around Albany this week.  

As Capital Tonight has reported, the state is not on track to meet its climate goals of 70% renewables by 2030. New York is behind for a variety of reasons, including inflation.

Additionally, Gov. Kathy Hochul just announced a clean energy summit in September featuring members of the business community, who, in the past, have recommended that the state broaden its renewable portfolio. 

There has also been talk of creating a chief state climate czar, someone who would coordinate state agencies and orient them toward the same goal. 

And finally, on Thursday, the group NY Renews issued a report saying that state agencies have been “flouting” the state’s climate laws.

Julie Tighe, president of the New York League of Conservation Voters, discussed a few of these issues with Capital Tonight host Susan Arbetter.
