NY Renews statement on Governor Cuomo signing the Environmental Justice Bill
Albany, NY — NY Renews, the coalition behind the nation’s strongest climate law, the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act, today issued the following statement on the Governor’s signing of the Environmental Justice Bill (A1564 / S2385).
“We’re thrilled that the Governor has finally signed the Environmental Justice bill. Now, the real work of implementing the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act begins. We call on the Governor, legislature, and state agencies to undertake the massive project of transitioning New York off of fossil fuels and to a just and renewable economy without delay — and that includes setting aside state funds for a just transition and appointing climate justice leaders to the Climate Action Council. Our climate and our communities can’t wait.”
