Renewable advocates press for carbon pricing
Carbon Free New York, which formed in 2020 to push carbon pricing in the electric market, is backed by the Alliance for Clean Energy New York and the New York League of Conservation Voters, along with some labor unions and Constellation, an energy supplier. They’re backing the “cap-and-invest” program and the inclusion of the electricity sector. NY Renews, a broad coalition of environmental groups, has also supported including electricity in the cap-and-trade system, finding benefits to local air quality in disadvantaged communities.
