NY Renews, in a recent report scrutinizing how several state agencies have failed to consider impacts on
disadvantaged communities as required in the climate law, raised concerns about the absence of the advisory group. The state has also not set up an interagency coordinating council required by the same environmental justice law signed by former Gov. Andrew Cuomo in 2019. The two bodies would “provide much-needed centralized policy and guidance for agencies tasked with implementing environmental and climate justice policies like the Climate Act,” the NY Renews report states.
