The sooner the U.S. reduces its dependence on fossil fuels and switches to a clean energy economy, the better it will be for everyone, Ulster County Executive-elect Jen Metzger told participants at a rally Wednesday afternoon in Midtown Kingston.
Metzger was one of several speakers during the rally at the Grand Street offices of the group For the Many. The rally was in support of the NY Renews coalition’s Climate, Jobs & Justice Package, a series of bills seeking to require the state to fully fund and implement the New York State Climate Act, while also building renewable energy for all and creating good, green union jobs. The package also calls on the state to “make polluters and the ultra-rich pay what they owe to fund the transition.”
